Filly seems to have a penchant for low budget single camera videos with a lot of improvisation.  This type of production puts a lot of pressure on the director and it requires a certain type of performer to make it work.  If either one isn’t up to the task it’s a disaster.  If neither the director nor the performers are up to the task it’s a catastrophe, as was the case with Filly’s recent release of the execrable Seduced by Mommy 5, which you won’t find reviewed here because my policy is only to review videos I like.  But, trust me; SBM5 should be used as a porn school example of what NOT to do.  Lesson learned:  I will never purchase or rent another Filly Films video without a named director.

In the case of MILF Shakes, however, the low budget approach, complete with shaky camera work and some beginning-video-class style editing, works.  This ended up being a highly erotic presentation filled with gritty realism and honest to goodness lesbian sex.  There is no doubt in my mind that all of these ladies are lesbians.  Not bisexuals playing lesbians or gay-for-pay porn starlets, but real, live, almost stereotypical, lesbians.  This isn’t a new concept – the “Crash Pad” series comes to mind almost immediately here, and there have been other attempts to portray “real” lesbians in their element.

I recognized a couple of the names from fetish work they’ve done but none of these performers are household names in the porn world.  At first I was a little put off by that having been burned so badly on SBM5 by clueless rookies paraded in front of the camera who had no clue what women get up to when they’re alone with each other and horny.  No worries here.  These ladies know what they’re about and it’s not the kind of lipstick lesbian sex we are used to from GFF or Sweetheart (NOTE: I do not intend that last as a swipe at either company whose product I have raved about repeatedly on this blog.).  No, this is lesbian sex pared to the bone; lesbian sex at its most elemental; lesbian sex with a little D/s thrown in for good measure; Lesbian sex with hair on.

I’m sure it didn’t take too long to make this video or cost very much either – the production values are at the low end of amateur.  But in a way that only adds to the appeal of this volume of porn.  It’s the kind of porn that real people might make rather than the kind of porn studios dream up.  The ethos here is pure “Gee Spanky, Dad’s got a barn…let’s put on a show,” and it works.

This is particularly true with the final scene which is, in my view, the most erotic of the four (and I liked all of them), but that might be because I have a small fetish for underarm hair and both ladies in the ultimate scene have it in abundance.  All four scenes had an overall "realism" that is as hard to describe as it is to define. You'll just have to watch and see for yourself (and I recommend that you do watch it).

Watching pornography is essentially a voyeuristic experience.  This video takes that idea and runs with it. Watching this I had the feeling that I was in the room and I wasn’t supposed to be there.  The guilty pleasure of watching two people perform the most intimate acts heightened my enjoyment. 

And so, I say, bravo! Encore!  Author!  And I toss my roses to the stage in salute to Madison Young and her intrepid crew of lovely lesbians who had some fun making a porno. 

This video isn’t for everyone.  These are real deal lesbians and they don’t particularly care for what you might think of them (I may be projecting a bit here) and they aren’t trying to give you what you expect, or in some cases even want, to see.  They’re giving you want they want to show you, which is how real lesbians behave.  What a refreshing concept!  If you expect high end production values, perfectly-proportioned-carefully-coifed-pubic-hair-free-overly-made-up-women, and multiple camera angles, this video is NOT for you.  If, however, you want to be able to witness sex at its most basic and fundamental level between two women, go out and buy, rent, or download this video right the hell now.
